Most successful SMM ever for Geislinger
Geislinger is pilot project member for new classification system by Germanischer Lloyd (GL)
Besides the new coupling catalogues with 30% increased ratings the contract signing for a modular certification system for maritime components between Germanischer Lloyd and Geislinger was a highlight of the very successful SMM participation.
Geislinger GmbH reported overwhelming interest and a record visitor number on the SMM 2008 in Hamburg. They believe that this strong interest was mainly because they presented new coupling catalogues, which they claim show the whole product range with a 30% enhanced rating or in other words 30% smaller size. Geislinger couplings use steel springs as elastic element and oil for hydrodynamic damping. They are well known for their tailor-made properties, longest lifetime and highest damping as well as for their toughness and resistance to harsh environment.
Due to its high quality standards and flexibility, Geislinger GmbH is one of Germanischer Lloyd’s first partners in a pilot project to apply the new modular certification system for maritime components and assemblies. An agreement for alternative product certification and a framework agreement covering all required services were signed by Geislinger and Germanischer Lloyd at the SMM 2008 trade show in Hamburg. These agreements enable Geislinger to better integrate the certification process into the manufacturing processes.
The Prototype of the Geislinger Monitoring also saw good interest, mainly from engine manufacturers and shipowners as it claims to have an intuitive user interface with “one button operation”. This eases handling for less electronically fund ship staff. A new data transmission structure enables multi-display applications as well as multi-engine monitoring with just one display – a tribute to ever increasing need for dashboard space.
