Geislinger presented its new Silenco® Coupling at SMM 2016
The launch of the new Geislinger Silenco® Coupling at SMM 2016 was a great success. Visitors could experience the acoustic attenuation of the Silenco® Coupling on their own, a truly unique experience.
According to the official closing report of SMM more than 2,200 exhibitors from all over the world as well as roughly 50,000 industry visitors attended the leading international maritime trade fair. Geislinger was delighted with the large number of interested visitors and trade visitors confirming that the solution of the Silenco® Acoustic Coupling is one step ahead.
Due to the specially adapted design and the combination of lightweight materials including composite and elastomer, the maintenance-free Silenco® Coupling minimizes the transfer of the structure-borne sound. The coupling demonstrator includes a built in exciter on the bottom membrane. Thus the visitors could feel, hear, and see on an oscilloscope, how much the vibrations are reduced from one side of the coupling to the other.

The Silenco® Coupling is part of the new Renk Advanced Electric Drive (AED). Therefore, Geislinger was delighted that Renk AG’s booth was located just around the corner. Visitors could experience the demonstration of the effects of the Silenco® Coupling at the Geislinger booth. At Renk’s booth, a 3D model of the new ultra silent electric drive with the Geislinger coupling was exhibited. Furthermore, a video presentation showed the Silenco® SC 140 at Renk’s new test facility - the first prototype of the Silenco® has been successfully tested here by our Geislinger acoustic experts.

Furthermore, Geislinger showed for the very first time their lightweight, maintenance-free shaft solution with an integrated flange connection. The Geislinger Gesilco® shafts are produced in one piece, meaning that the flange is not additionally linked to the shaft but is already a part of it. This unique design reduces the weight by approximately 50%. From designing and manufacturing to calculating the rotation properties of the Gesilco® shaft lines, the entire production is carried out in an in-house process which ensures high quality products and solutions.

Geislinger is now looking forward to its participation as an exhibitor at InnoTrans Berlin and WindEnergy Hamburg.
Geislinger offers a perfect combination of lightweight and low maintenance solutions with our high performance lineup of the enhanced Gesilco® composite Couplings and the newest steel spring SAE Couplings. These Couplings provide excellent torsional features that are easily combined to a wide variety of interfaces.
In addition, other Geislinger products like the robust Gesilco® composite shaftline or Silenco® acoustic damping Coupling are excellent driveline system additions.
