Karina Windhofer, a Geislinger Torsional Vibration Calculation (TVC) expert, describes Recent developments for simulations and measurements of torsional elastic steel spring couplings. Her paper and presentation include the analysis of simulations and measurements of torsional vibrations for torsional elastic couplings. For the simulations, the focus will be on the question of how classical steel spring couplings with frequency-based stiffness and damping definitions can be transferred to the time domain.
For this, an adaptive major frequency updating algorithm will be presented. It will also show how transient TV simulations can be beneficial to avoid oversizing of the coupling, while still guaranteeing a safe operation in all possible running conditions and applications. In addition, as a recent development for TV monitoring, a new data processing infrastructure will be presented that is designed for processing long-term measurements.
Dr. Andreas Thalhammer, our Manager for Torsional Vibration Calculation (TVC) and Digital Development, will talk about New Opportunities of Big Data Analytics for Torsional Vibration Analysis. Various aspects of big data analytics in the context of torsional vibration analysis will be discussed. The emphasis is laid on illustrating the advantages of a big data appliance for torsional vibration analysis and how to deal with big data in real-life applications. Case studies show the effectiveness of the presented approaches and the advantages of physics- and data-driven strategies as well as their combination.
Dr. Lothar Kurtze, a specialist for Machine Acoustics who has been deeply involved in the development of the acoustically optimized Geislinger Gesilco® and Silenco® Couplings and the construction of the acoustic test rigs will talk about Innovative solutions to reduce the transfer of structure borne noise in the powertrain of Mega Yachts. This includes the typical transfer paths of the structure-borne noise, especially the secondary path from the engine via the gearbox, the Coupling and the propeller shaft into the ship’s hull and structure. He will give insights how innovative technologies significantly allow the noise transfer to be minimized via the coupling.
