Digitalization in manufacturing is most successful when it grows out of real-world practice. OKULON is a prime example of this approach. What began as an internal solution at Geislinger has evolved into a powerful manufacturing execution system (MES) that is now ready to support industrial companies beyond our own walls. In April 2025, Geislinger took a significant strategic step by founding the OKULON business unit. For the first time in our company’s history, we are making our own production software available as an external product – marking a new chapter in Geislinger’s journey into software development.
A Solution Born on the Shop Floor
The roots of OKULON go back to 2013. At that time, Geislinger was facing a challenge familiar to many manufacturing companies: none of the production software solutions available on the market fully met our requirements for planning, control, and transparency. So we decided to develop our own.
Since 2018, the in-house developed manufacturing execution system has been successfully in use and continuously further developed. Over the years, the system has proven itself in daily operations and has been successfully rolled out across several international Geislinger plants:
- Bad St. Leonhard (2018)
- Salzburg (2021)
- Korea (2023)
- USA (2025)
This practical success laid the foundation for what is now OKULON.
What OKULON Does
OKULON is a manufacturing execution system (MES) that connects machines, processes, and people. It supports:
- Detailed production planning
- Operational and machine data collection
- Personnel deployment planning
- Production control and transparency
By integrating these functions, OKULON brings structure, clarity, and efficiency to manufacturing operations and creates a solid basis for continuous improvement.
The Vision Board enables flexible data visualization. KPIs, performance indicators, and relevant information can be displayed according to individual requirements.
What truly sets OKULON apart is its practical relevance. It was developed by a manufacturing company for manufacturing companies.

Reporting is now significantly simpler and data-based for assembly management. OKULON makes production processes more transparent and efficient. OKULON also delivers clear benefits for management. Key performance indicators such as capacity utilization, efficiency, and throughput times are available at any time, enabling data-based decision-making. Thanks to its modular structure, the system can be flexibly adapted to the specific requirements of different plants and production environments.
A Business Unit with a Clear Mission
With the creation of the Software Solutions business unit, OKULON has found its organizational home within Geislinger. The unit operates like an internal start-up: closely connected to the company’s industrial expertise, yet independent enough to innovate quickly and focus fully on software development.
A dedicated team from development and sales is continuously working on new features, an improved user interface, and the structured rollout of OKULON to the market.
